Earlier this week former NFL star offensive lineman Jason Kelce delivered a heartfelt apology to a live TV audience following an altercation that took place over the weekend.

The former Philadelphia Eagles star was in Happy Valley over the weekend for a stint on ESPN’s College GameDay. Following the show, someone used a homophobic slur to describe his brother, Travis’, relationship with Taylor Swift.

Instead of letting the slur go, he took the person’s phone and slammed it into the ground before later using the same slur in retaliation. Kelce admitted he regrets his behavior in comments on ESPN.

“I think everybody’s seen on social media everything that took place this week. I’m not happy with anything that took place. I’m not proud of it. And in a heated moment, I chose to greet hate with hate,” Jason said in his apology Monday night.

“And I just don’t think that’s a productive thing. I really don’t. I don’t think that it leads to discourse, and it’s the right way to go about things. And in that moment, I fell down to a level that I shouldn’t have. So I think the bottom line is, I try to live my life by the golden rule. That’s what I’ve always been taught.

“I try to treat people with common decency and respect, and I’m going to keep doing that moving forward, even though I fell short this week. I’m going to do that moving forward and continue to do that. I think we got a game to focus on. Obviously, a matchup. I don’t think this is the platform to necessarily go into more detail. So, get ready for this Chiefs game.”

After taking a few days to think about what happened, Travis responded to his brother’s incident in a comment during their ‘New Heights’ podcast.

“You had some [expletive] clown come up to you talking about your family,” Travis said. “You reacted in a way that was defending your family and you might have used some words that you regret using.”

Travis knows the situation has been “weighing” on his older brother.

“I know it’s weighing on you, brother,” he said. “That [expletive] sucks. You shouldn’t feel this much. … Everybody passing around the videos is gonna make it a bigger situation than what it really is.”

Fans loved the bond the brothers share.

“What they both said here made tear up,” one person said.

“Class acts. Love these men,” offered another.

“Big bro energy! Travis knows Jason’s all heart, no hate. Love the Kelce brother bond!” offered a third.

Jason wants to put the incident behind him and with a public apology – not once, but twice – he’s well on the road to doing just that.
