No one is doing their post-breakup era quite like Mariah Carey. Sure, the Grammy-winning singer and her former BF Bryan Tanaka went through a pretty intense and emotional split. But Carey’s latest outing may indicate she’s ready to embrace the new year and the next chapter of her life with a classic hairstyle.

During a recent outing in Aspen, the “Fantasy” singer and mom of two was photographed in a look we’re absolutely obsessed with. Carey sported a monochrome black outfit with matching sunglasses, a stunning glittery necklace, and her voluminous curly hair. It was seriously such a blast from the past.

We’ve grown accustomed to seeing Carey sport her long wavy or straight ‘do. But this latest hairstyle was very reminiscent of her early ’90s look. In fact, if you go back far enough, you can see photographs of the singer at the 1993 American Music Awards working her flowing curls. Just take a look at the latest photo above and the image from January 1993 — almost 31 years ago!

Carey was photographed out in Aspen around the same time Tanaka announced their split after seven years together. “Our decision to embark on different paths is mutual, and as we navigate these separate journeys, we do so with profound requests and an overwhelming sense of gratitude for the invaluable time we’ve shared,” his statement, which he posted to Instagram, read in part.

Breakups are never easy. And enduring a split under the scrutiny of the public eye is unimaginable for nearly all of us. But Carey’s outing in Aspen appears to show the singer in good spirits. With a bold look and her own confident resolve, we have a feeling that 2024 will be the singer’s best year yet.
