Ellen DeGeneres just shared an update on her injured chicken.

On Friday, the comedian posted an Instagram video informing followers about her chicken, Sinky, after the animal was found with an injured leg.

In the clip, DeGeneres, 65, shared that after taking the injured chicken to the veterinarian, it was confirmed she has a broken fibula and will need four weeks to recover in a special facility.

After DeGeneres shared the news, she joked that she told the vet, “You got to be ‘fibbin’ me.”

The comedian quickly confirmed that she hadn’t made that joke. “That’s horrible. And it’s nothing to joke around about. So yeah, my chicken has a broken fibula.”

After sharing that the chicken will need to recover outside of DeGeneres’ home, she added that her previous treatment plan to keep the chicken in the sink “is not the best place for her.”

Before DeGeneres provided the update, on Thursday she shared an Instagram video of the chicken in a bathroom sink ahead of her veterinarian appointment.

The veteran talk show host revealed she and wife Portia de Rossi, named the chicken Sinky because she was “basically living in [their] sink.”

“I know it’s a stupid name. You can blame Steve Carell for that,” joked DeGeneres. “He named her.”

She shared on Thursday morning that the chicken was “doing okay” and was “eating.” The couple made a makeshift bed for Sinky with several bath towels piled in the bathroom sink.

DeGeneres then shared a tour of the bathroom with all of the chicken’s recovery needs. “There’s her food down there and some water for her. We put a nesting box in case she does want to lay an egg.” She continued, “We’re covering everything with towels so that it’s not slippery in case she wants to jump up.”

After sharing a glimpse at the chicken’s recovery space, DeGeneres provided a close-up of Sinky’s injury and showed the chicken’s ruffled feathers around the broken fibula.

Following the veterinarian appointment in DeGeneres’ Friday Instagram update, she shared a glimpse at her cat, Monkey, and shared how the cat was attentive to Sinky.

“Monkey was outside the door constantly wondering how Sinky was and wanting to help,” shared the Ellen host. “Anyway, I’ll keep you updated. But broken fibula. I don’t know how she did it. But she’s healing, she’ll be okay.”
