Whitney Houston’s autopsy report was released after her tragic death in 2012, and it revealed the full extent of the damage that years of substance abuse had done to her body


Whitney Houston had her beauty marred by years of substance abuse and by the time of her death in 2012, her body was scarred and injured.

The results of her autopsy revealed that the singer’s nose had rotted and had a hole in it, likely due to her cocaine addiction. One of her arteries was also found to be 60% blocked.

She’d arrived in town earlier that week for the Grammys and was seen behaving erratically and looking dishevelled the night before. On the day of her death, she’d complained of a sore throat and said she wanted to take a bath before Clive Davis’ pre-Grammys party.

But when her assistant returned from running errands at 3:35pm, she found the star’s lifeless body lying in about 13 inches of scalding hot water. Six hours after her death, the temperature was still a scorching 33C. Insiders reckon it could have been a blistering 66C when she passed away, as shown by the large areas of skin burned off her back.

A needle mark was found on her inner left elbow, along with scars from breast implants and “the outlines of bilateral breast prosthesis.” The mum-of-one also had a wig sewn onto her natural hair.

Despite having “sparse” eyebrows, under the tightly attached headpiece, Whitney surprisingly had a full head of black, wavy hair with “no balding”.

Her teeth, however, were in a terrible state. According to the report, Whitney had 11 of her front teeth missing and wore a “maxillary dental prosthesis”.

Tina Brown, the sister of Whitney’s ex-husband Bobby Brown, claimed they fell out during crack cocaine binges that would last for days. “She loses them in the house and when she’s out on drug binges,” Tina said in 2006, revealing Whitney would constantly need to order replacements.

“They cost $6,000 and the dentist has to keep FedEx’ing her a new set,” she added.

The report also found that her “eyes were congested and there was a bloody purge coming from her nose”, and her nose had rotted away, leaving a hole in the cartilage. Whitney’s official cause of death was ruled as accidental drowning contributed to by heart disease and cocaine use.
