Timothee Chalamet Reveals The Surprising Advice Leonardo DiCaprio Gave Him While Dating Kylie Jenner

Timothee Chalamet is one of Hollywood’s most promising young actors at the moment, and he’s apparently getting a lot of advice from acting veterans, with Leonardo DiCaprio most recently offering some words of wisdom.

In an interview published on Wednesday, February 21st, Timothée shared with The New York Times his thoughts about his Don’t Look Up co-star, explaining that while Leo has cautioned him against making superhero movies (a genre he’s infamously never tackled in his decades-long career), Timothee isn’t sure if he’ll heed the advice.

Leonardo DiCaprio And Tom Cruise Both Gave Timothee Advice

“Leonardo DiCaprio said to me, ‘No superhero movies, no hard drugs.’ Which I thought was very good,” Timothee explained. “I follow them both! But the movie that made me want to act is a superhero movie, The Dark Knight. If the script was great, if the director was great, I’d have to consider it.”

DiCaprio isn’t the only famous actor offering Timothee advice recently. Earlier this year, Chalamet revealed that Tom Cruise also had some suggestions for how to propel his career forward.

Speaking to GQ, Timothee said Cruise gave him a list of trainers to help with motorcycle and helicopter stunts for future projects (which are exactly the type of action scenes Cruise is known for performing himself without a stunt double).

“After I met Tom Cruise, right after finishing the first Dune, he sent me the most wonderfully inspiring email,” Timothee told the publication. “He basically said, in Old Hollywood, you would be getting dance training and fight training, and nobody is going to hold you to that standard today. So it’s up to you. The email was really like a war cry.”

“Top Gun was just hugely inspiring to me last summer when we were making Dune,” Timothee continued, admitting that Tom Cruise is a huge inspiration to him, making the career advice even more meaningful. “Some of the crew were kind of scoffing at going, but I just thought it was one of the greatest films I’ve ever seen.”

Dating Kylie Could Be Hurting Timothee’s Career

While Timothee’s star seems to be rising, especially with the release of Dune: Part 2, one of his most highly anticipated projects, there’s been concern that his relationship with Kylie Jenner has hurt his career, as some fans question if he’ll be taken as seriously in the industry for dating the reality star.

There have recently been reports that Kylie and Timothee may have broken up, with some fans theorizing their sad social media posts and public appearances are clear evidence.

One report claimed Kylie expected Timothee to follow strict rules, including offering up his passwords, as she was suspicious of his ex. This may have made filming the Dune sequel difficult, and if Timothee feels his career is being impacted negatively in the long-run by staying with Kylie, it may mean their relationship is in jeopardy, that is, if they haven’t already split ways.
