Manchester United have turned down a bid from Fulham for academy graduate Scott McTominay.

The Red Devils midfielder has just a year remaining on his contract at Old Trafford – albeit United having an option to extend that deal by a further year. His precarious situation has left McTominay’s future far from certain.

And Premier League rivals have attempted to take advantage of that with a move. Fulham have reportedly tabled their opening bid for the Scottish midfielder.

But according to Mail Online, that offer has been rebuffed by the Red Devils. It is suggested that Fulham’s bid is lower than a £30m offer that Man United turned down from West Ham last summer.

McTominay looked set for an Old Trafford exit 12 months ago but enjoyed a dramatic u-turn under current boss Erik ten Hag. The 27-year-old scored a career-best 10 goals last term despite a tricky season from the Red Devils’ perspective.

Ten Hag regularly underlined how crucial McTominay had been. Speaking last season, the Dutchman said: “Every player has a price but he has a big value, sporting and also economic.

“I want to have a player like Scott McTominay in the squad. He is Manchester United in every faith. Every minute he will fight for the match. He is Manchester United in everything in his heart. When you are coming on and giving this to the team it tells a lot.”

“He is Manchester United in everything and in his heart,” the Red Devils’ boss added. ”So he’s playing for the badge. He gives his life. And when you’re coming on and you give this to the team, it tells a lot.”

While Fulham are interested in a move for McTominay, foreign sides are also keeping a close eye on him. Galatasaray vice president Ibrahim Hatipoglu confirmed that his side had added the midfielder to their shortlist for the summer.

“McTominay’s transfer fee is being discussed,” he was quoted by Haber Sarı Kırmızı. “Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is a good player, he has many suitors, he wants to see all options.

“There is no talk of single-digit figures for right-back and midfield transfers. But we have allocated a budget of less than €10million for right-back. There is no negative situation regarding Guela Doue [Rennes right-back]. Negotiations are ongoing [for] McTominay and Doue. Wan-Bissaka is not our priority.”
