Jadon Sancho could be offered an escape route from Manchester United by Paris St Germain – but only if they are willing to pay up to £40million for him.

Sancho is back training with United after spending the second half of last season back on loan at former club Borussia Dortmund, following his public fall-out with Erik ten Hag. Ten Hag and Sancho had a clear-the-air meeting earlier this month.

The England winger is said to have reflected on past issues and the pair drawing a line under their spat and agreeing to move on. Sancho played the second half of United’s 2-0 friendly win over Rangers at the weekend.

He will also be part of the squad that flies to Los Angeles today for a three-game tour of the US, including friendlies against Arsenal and Liverpool. PSG have expressed interest in signing Sancho on a permanent deal.

United are looking to recoup around half of the £73million they paid Dortmund for the winger back in 2021. Sancho was exiled by Ten Hag after publicly disputing his manager’s reason for leaving him out of the matchday squad for a 3-1 defeat away to Arsenal last season.

Ten Hag claimed Sancho was omitted because of poor training performances, with the 24-year-old taking to social media to contest that view, effectively branding his boss a liar.

Sancho has endured a turbulent time at United, making just 82 appearances and scoring 12 goals over three underwhelming seasons. The winger was given three months off by Ten Hag the season before last, to deal with physical and mental issues, before returning to the team.

After spending the second half of last season on loan at Borussia Dortmund, Sancho was brought back into the United fold earlier this summer. After holding clear-the-air talks with Ten Hag, the winger was allowed to return to first-team training.

Since news of their reconciliation broke, Ten Hag has been keen to move on from the dispute. Though he has praised Sancho for being a “good player”, the Dutchman has stopped short of confirming he will remain beyond the summer.

“As we said, we’ve drawn the line,” said Ten Hag, when asked about Sancho. “ Manchester United needs good players and Jadon is a good player. We have drawn that line and we move on. We’ve drawn the line. We move on.”

Sancho featured for United in the first-half of their win over Rangers on Saturday, starting on the left wing. But he endured a difficult afternoon at Murrayfield, creating just one chance and having only one shot during his 45 minutes on the pitch.

Even that shot showed he still has work to do to reclaim his place firing over the bar from 12 yards out. In total, he had just three touches in the Rangers box and failed to deliver an accurate cross.
