Harry Maguire returned to pre-season training and Manchester United fans want him reinstated as captain.
Manchester United fans believe Harry Maguire should be reinstated as captain after his actions upon returning to pre-season.
After injury ruled him out of Euro 2024 with England, Maguire was back at Carrington this week as he steps up his injury recovery.
The centre-back is still not fully fit and did not travel with the squad for the pre-season friendly with Rosenborg.
Instead, as per United’s official website, Maguire has been training individually at the club’s training ground as part of his ongoing rehabilitation from a calf issue.
But he was still in the building and the former Leicester City man has showed his class when in the same vicinity as the club’s young players.
With players still given time off due to Euro 2024 and Copa America commitments, the squad who were back for pre-season was made up of youngsters.
For Maguire, that didn’t matter one bit. While a number of academy players were on the bikes, the 31-year-old welcomed them with open arms.
As shown in the club’s ‘Unseen’ video on YouTube, Maguire can be seen going out of his way to shake hands with every player.
It was a brilliant bit of leadership from Maguire and an act that did not go unnoticed with United’s supporters.

He was stripped off the captaincy around a year ago when Bruno Fernandes was handed the armband, but he clearly still has a lot of the necessary qualities.
One fan wrote: “Love Maguire dapping everyone up.”
A second stated: “Should still be captain.”
A third said: “That’s why Harry Maguire was captain.”
Another simply commented: “Everybody’s captain”
A fifth praised Maguire, adding: “You always hear from many players in & around the squad how Maguire makes them feel welcoming & at home right away. This is a nice example of this in training this week greeting all the young lads. A class act & great leader.”
A final person weighed in: “Our captain.”
