With the new Premier League season less than a month away, clubs are set to ramp up their transfer business now that Euro 2024 and the Copa America are over.
The likes of Manchester United, Aston Villa, Chelsea and Newcastle have been among the busier clubs, while Liverpool and Fulham are both yet to make any new signings. The futures of Ivan Toney, Conor Gallagher and Nico Williams are hot topics, but a number of fringe Premier League players are also looking to secure moves.
Here, Mirror Football has taken a look at 10 forgotten Premier League stars who are in need of a fresh start this summer…

Trevoh Chalobah
Having been left out of Enzo Maresca’s squad for Chelsea’s pre-season tour of the US, it appears as though Chalobah’s time at Stamford Bridge is up.
Chelsea have an incredibly bloated squad which Maresca is keen to trim and Chalobah is one of several players facing the axe. Crystal Palace, West Ham and Fulham have all been linked with the 25-year-old, while Nottingham Forest had a £25million bid rejected by the Blues last summer.
Kalvin Phillips
Manchester City are expected to offload Phillips this summer, with the 28-year-old desperately needing a move in order to rebuild his career.
Phillips was once a key player for Gareth Southgate’s England, but has seen his stock fall dramatically since joining City from Leeds in 2022. The likes of Everton and Fulham have both been linked with the midfielder.

Romelu Lukaku
Having spent a second consecutive season out on loan in Italy, Lukaku’s second spell at Chelsea now looks set to come to an end.
Heavily linked with a permanent switch to Napoli, Lukaku will be hoping he can rediscover his best form by linking up with Antonio Conte again. His return to Chelsea for a then club record fee in 2021 has been a struggle, with Lukaku netting 15 goals in 44 games before being shipped out on a series of loans.
Emile Smith Rowe
A combination of injuries and stiff competition for places has seen Smith Rowe’s game time at Arsenal extremely limited in recent seasons.
Smith Rowe has been reluctant to leave the club in the past, but the time may be right for him to move on to pastures new with Crystal Palace and Fulham said to be interested in the midfielder, who has made just three Premier League starts in the past two years.

Kepa Arrizabalaga
Another player omitted from Chelsea’s pre-season tour of the US, Kepa is also expected to leave the club permanently after spending last season on loan at Real Madrid.
Kepa is training away from the first-team and has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, with the Blues currently eyeing a move for Villarreal goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen as they look to bring in more competition for Robert Sanchez.
Caoimhin Kelleher
At the age of 25, Kelleher wants to be a first-choice goalkeeper and it seems highly unlikely he will get that opportunity at Liverpool.
“I feel like I’ve done my years as a number two,” he admitted earlier this year. “The ambition now is to be a number one. I am ready and capable.” Kelleher has previously been linked with Nottingham Forest and Celtic.

Nat Phillips
Liverpool may also look to sell Phillips this summer, with the defender recently returning from a third consecutive loan spell.
The 27-year-old has not played for Liverpool since an FA Cup third round match against Wolves in January 2023 and the Reds are said to be willing to accept a bid of around £8m for his services. Trabzonspor have had a £4m offer rejected, while new Burnley boss Scott Parker is a fan of Phillips.
Yan Couto
Following a third loan spell at City’s sister club Girona, Couto look set to depart the Etihad for good this summer having not made a single appearance in four years.
Borussia Dortmund have been heavily linked with a move for the 22-year-old full-back, who became a Brazil international last year. According to the Daily Mail, Dortmund are expected to make a £25m bid or Couto.

David Datro Fofana
Having spent last season out on loan at Burnley, Fofana has been linked with the likes of Everton and Sevilla.
Fofana is unlikely to get many opportunities at Chelsea this season, with both Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson ahead of him in the pecking order, and either another loan move or a permanent transfer would be the best move for both parties.
Malang Sarr
Any chances of Sarr potentially resurrecting his Chelsea career appear to have come to an end after he was also left out of Maresca’s squad for the pre-season tour of America.
The 25-year-old has not played a competitive match since March 2023 when he was on loan at Monaco, having been excluded from the first-team last season by Mauricio Pochettino. A January loan move to Le Havre ultimately fell through and a permanent move to Lens has been mooted.
