Georges St-Pierre has had his say on Mike Tyson fighting Jake Paul.

UFC legend Georges St-Pierre says he hopes Mike Tyson doesn’t get hurt and avoids a humiliation in his comeback bout against Jake Paul.

Tyson, who hasn’t fought since November 2020 when he faced fellow boxing great Roy Jones Jr, is set to fight Paul in an exhibition bout on July 20.

Tyson vs. Paul is slated for July 20 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, and will be aired on Netflix – a move which has been praised by WWE icon Triple H.

‘Iron’ Mike looks to be in supreme shape ahead of his ring return, having shared a first-person POV training video on social media.

And he’s even made a huge lifestyle change in preparation for his summer showdown.

Even though he’s taking his return fight very seriously, St-Pierre hopes his ‘idol’ doesn’t get hurt.

“Well, it’s an exhibition,” said the former UFC welterweight champion on Covers. “Mike Tyson, for me, is an idol… when I grew up watching him, I really idolised him.

“I just hope he doesn’t get hurt, and he doesn’t get humiliated. I hope things will go well. And I hope both will come back and look good.”

UFC chief Dana White shared the same sentiment with ‘GSP’ until he received a phone call.

He initially expressed some concerns and slammed Paul for fighting the former world champion.

But the 54-year-old changed his tune following a conversation with Tyson’s wife.

“I love Mike Tyson and I’m not a fan of anybody fighting at our age, but he’s a grown man obviously and he’s going to do what he’s going to do,” he said.

“At least I know, I talked to his wife a couple of days ago and he’s taking it serious and he’s training for it and you know, we’ll see how it plays out.”
