Deontay Wilder stopped Malik Scott in destructive style.

Malik Scott suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of Deontay Wilder, who detonated a devastating right hand in their heavyweight clash.

Wilder met Scott, who is in a relationship with Kate Abdo, in the 31st fight of his professional boxing career back in March 2014.

‘The Bronze Bomber’ had stopped all his previous 30 opponents ahead of facing Scott, who was coming off a victory over Grover Young after losing to Dereck Chisora.

Wilder made light work of Scott, stopping him in the very first round of their Puerto Rico showdown.

He landed a brutal one-two combination that floored his opponent.

Scott couldn’t beat the count as he succumbed to Wilder’s ferocious power.

After stopping Scott, Wilder beat Jason Gavern before claiming the WBC world heavyweight title against Bermane Stiverne.

He made 10 successful defences of his green and gold belt, including victories over Luis Ortiz, Dominic Breazeale, Chris Arreola not to mention a draw with Tyson Fury.

Of course, Fury went onto dethrone Wilder of the WBC title in their rematch back in February 2020.

Following his defeat to the ‘Gypsy King’, he called upon Scott’s services as he became the heavyweight star’s new trainer.

On their relationship, Scott explained: “I just know who I’m training. Not because I know him, but because I’ve been in the ring with him.

“I fought him, I sparred him, I know what he feels like in 10-ounce gloves, I know what he feels like in 20-ounce [sparring] gloves.

“So, I know what the power is that I’m speaking of because I’ve felt it.

“I’ve seen what he’s done to grown men with 20-ounce gloves on.

“So, it’s easy because I know who I’m training. I have experienced him.”

He added: “My knowledge of him comes from the standpoint of experience, not from the standpoint of hoping or guessing.

“I know what he can do and I know how well he can do it.

“I just demand of him to be the best that he can be because at his best I don’t think no-one beats him.”
