Deontay Wilder says his heavyweight clash with Zhilei Zhang on June 1 will be his last chance saloon.

Wilder will face Zhang in a heavyweight clash on the Queensberry-Matchroom 5v5 undercard for Artur Beterbiev vs Dmitry Bivol in Saudi Arabia.

Wilder has also been selected as Eddie Hearn’s team captain for the night, meaning Matchroom will get double the points if he wins.

The scoring system for the 5v5 card is as follows: two points for stoppage win, one point for decision win, zero for a draw and double for captains.

Wilder will be hoping to return to winning ways after losing to Joseph Parker on the Day of Reckoning card in Saudi Arabia on December 23, 2023.

The Bronze Bomber’s loss to Parker saw his fight with Anthony Joshua derailed, leaving him open to fight on the 5v5 card.

Wilder will be facing Zhang – who recently lost to Parker on the undercard of AJ’s fight with Francis Ngannou.

Speaking about his fight with Zhang at Monday’s press conference, Wilder said: ‘I’m looking forward to the fight, I respect Zhang.

‘He is a good fighter but it’s my time. I’ve been through a lot and I’ve had to regroup.

‘I’ve had to get myself together. Things don’t just happen overnight. Things don’t change for the next fight. You have to keep working. You have to keep pushing.

‘You have to keep working and keep pushing until you know what you want and I’m at the point where I am narrowing that down. Come the night of the fight, we will see if I’ve got it or not.

‘I am quoting this fight as my last dance, my last chance. That’s what I am taking it accordingly as. I am ready to do what I am known to do. Be the Wilder I am. I lost my love for this business and I lost my hunger for so many different reasons. But now I am dealing with people who love the craziness and the wildness of Wilder.
