Canelo Alvarez slammed the fight between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul.

Canelo Alvarez says Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul is ‘more of a show’ rather than a fight as he delivered a ruthless assessment.

Tyson, who hasn’t fought since his exhibition against Roy Jones Jr back in November 2020, is set to return to the ring on July 20 when he faces Paul at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, which will be aired on Netflix.

But the proposed showdown between Tyson and Paul could be cancelled if the boxing legend fails an unusual pre-fight test written into the rules.

The 57-year-old returning to action has been widely condemned by fans and critics alike in the combat sports world.

UFC boss Dana White initially slammed the contest, but he has since performed a U-turn after receiving a phone call.

Canelo, however, is not a fan of Tyson vs. Paul, revealing he’s ‘not interested’ in the clash.

It comes after he responded to ‘Iron’ Mike accusing the superstar fighter of disrespecting Mexican boxing.

Asked if he is interested in the bout, he replied: “Not at all. With Netflix being involved, yes, that’s good. But, not [interested] in that kind of fight. I think it’s more [of a] show than a fight.”

Canelo has also beefed with Paul, who called him out following his win over Ryan Bourland earlier this month.

Speaking after his stoppage victory, ‘The Problem Child said: “Canelo, stop ducking. I know you want it. I’m repping Puerto Rico. You’re repping Mexico.

“So, it’s Puerto Rico vs. Mexico. I want Canelo. I want all the biggest names. Like I said, I’m the face of this sport. Truly, who’s doing more for boxing than me? I keep on proving myself time and time again.”

Canelo has his next assignment scheduled as he’s set to defend his super-middleweight world titles against fellow Mexican Jaime Munguia on May 4.
