Amidst the Kansas City Chiefs‘ Super Bowl triumph over the San Francisco 49ers, a surprising moment unfolded as tight end Travis Kelce shoved coach Andy Reid on the sidelines. In a display of frustration during the first half, Kelce reacted strongly to being removed from a play, resulting in a forceful push that caused Reid to lose his balance.

“He keeps me young,” Reid said after the game.

“Not so good [balance] – he tested that hip out. He caught me off-balance – normally I get him a little bit but I didn’t have any feet under me.”

Despite the intensity of the moment, both Kelce and Reid later laughed off the incident, with Kelce referencing being “mic’d up,” a common practice where players wear microphones during games for fan insight.

“Ah, you guys saw that? I’m a keep that between us unless my mic’d up tells the world,” Travis Kelce noted.

“I was just telling him how much I love him.”

No hard feelings

While such exchanges are typically captured in detailed team videos, it remains to be seen if the Chiefs will include this interaction.

In their respective post-game press conferences, both Reid and Kelce emphasized that there were no hard feelings, highlighting their mutual respect and camaraderie amidst the high-stakes game.

“He loves to play the game and he loves to help his team win,” Reid said.

“It’s not a selfish thing. As much he bumps into me, I get after him. We understand that. He just caught me off balance.”
