A coterie of philanthropic stars flocked to New York’s Manhattan Center last week for the 17th annual Samsung Charity Gala, which benefits health and educational programs throughout the United States. To date, Samsung has helped raise more than $75 million for over 2,600 schools, hospitals, and foundations—among them, the Global Wildlife Conservation, No Child Hungry, City of Hope, and the Boomer Esiason Foundation, dedicated to improving the lives of those affected by cystic fibrosis.

“At Samsung, we believe that when our partners and communities thrive, we thrive,” Tim Baxter, the company’s president and CEO, told Forbes. “The Samsung Charity Gala gives us an opportunity to support and spotlight our charity partners who have made a real impact in their communities by not only offering technology to those in need, but also teaching them how to use it, and build the skills needed to forge have measurably built a better future for kids, families and communities across the country.”

Among the altruistic A-listers in attendance were Matthew McConaughey, Camila Alves, Kristen Bell, Jermaine Dupri, DJ Irie, and Ryan Seacrest, who hosted the lavish affair. Peter Hermann introduced his wife, Law & Order: SVU star Mariska Hargitay, who was honored with the Champion of Hope award for her work with the Joyful Heart Foundation, which she founded in 2004 in support of victims of sexual violence.

“From the beginning, we have been adamant about keeping survivors at the center of everything that we do,” Hargitay said in her acceptance speech. “We have sent a consistent message to survivors that we hear them, that we believe them, and that their healing is our priority.”

McConaughey later stepped into the spotlight to talk about the efforts of Just Keep Livin, the nonprofit organization he and his wife, Alves, co-founded to guide high school students into leading active and healthy lives in 33 schools across seven states. “Ninety-percent of the young men and women in our curriculum have improved or maintained their grades,” he enthused, noting that 98% of the 12th-grade students in the program were on track to graduate.

The Texas native later returned to the mic as an auctioneer, calling for bids on the first of three once-in-a-lifetime experiences. Donated by Just Keep Livin, the lot touted two tickets to Austin’s premier charity event, MJ&M—the fundraising effort the actor has held every spring since 2013 alongside recording artist Jack Ingram and ESPN analyst Mack Brown. The package—which included a gala dinner and concert, a meet-and-greet with the Hollywood couple, a Monique Lhuillier fashion show and luncheon, two nights at the W Hotel in downtown Austin, and a $1,000 American Express travel gift card—raised $31,000 in a matter of minutes.

Football legend Victor Cruz was on hand to present the second offering: two premium tickets to the New York Giants game against the Philadelphia Eagles at MetLife Stadium on October 11, sponsored by the Victor Cruz Foundation. For $13,000, the winning bidder received pregame field passes and the chance to hang out with the former wide receiver (who half-jokingly agreed to throw in a dance lesson). Earlier, the star athlete made a surprise donation of $120,000 to Solar Libre Puerto Rico—an organization working to educate, fund, and empower local communities devastated by Hurricane Maria by helping rebuild the island with solar energy.

The final item—gifted by Broadway star Lin-Manuel Miranda and the Flamboyan Arts Fund—included two tickets to see the Hamilton actor reprise his lead role in the hit musical in San Juan, Puerto Rico, plus entrance to the post-show reception and a $2,000 American Express gift card for travel. Two lots were offered, each of which sold for $15,000. All proceeds went towards charitable causes.

The spirited night, which opened with a performance by students of the Hamilton Education Program, featured music by Fitz and the Tantrums and concluded with Pitbull taking the stage. After running through a number of his most famous hits—from Fireball to Timber to International Love—the rapper delivered the perfect line to end the benevolent bash. “Money does buy happiness,” he said. “You just have to give it away.”
