Heading to see the Rockettes at Radio City Music Hall is one of those New York City must-dos around the holidays. Law & Order: Special Victims Unit star Mariska Hargitay (daughter of the iconic Jayne Mansfield and Mickey Hargitay) experienced an incredible performance on Christmas Eve this year. Hargitay proved that perhaps she could become a Rockette herself as she posed with a few of the stars and showcased perfect form.

She shared a photo of herself posing with a few of the dancers and wrote, “Just kicking it with the @TheRockettes Happy Holidays 🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌🎅🏽 #radiocity” Fans were impressed and urged Hargitay to show off more of her dancing prowess. The post comes amid a very special time for Radio City Music Hall, as it celebrates its 90th anniversary this year.

In 1932, the beautiful theater opened, owned and created by billionaire John D. Rockefeller, Jr. In the past 90+ years, over 300 million people have reportedly visited the theater to see performances of all kinds but perhaps the most famous is the show featuring the Rockettes during the holidays.

Just a year after the theater’s opening, The Radio City Music Hall Christmas Spectacular debuted and over a million people see the show each year. In addition, over 700 films have premiered at the theater, and in the late 1970s, it began allowing concerts.

The theater was designed by Donald Deskey and he was inspired by the theme of “Progress of Man.” If you’ve ever been or seen photos, the Great Stage is meant to resemble the setting sun. Many of the original mechanisms from the ’30s are still in use today, including elevators that allow some impressive effects on stage. Tell us, have you ever visited Radio City Music Hall or seen the Radio City Music Hall Christmas Spectacular?
