The Law & Order: Special Victims Unit star started off 2024 in the most romantic way.

Hargitay and Hermann clearly started off 2024 with a big adventure, as Hargitay also proudly posted high-quality pictures (taken by both herself and Hermann) of the wildlife she saw while exploring the Sirikoi Lodge, including lions, rhinos, and a picture of a giant giraffe named Ditu towering over her.

“Meet my new friend. Ditu 2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣4️⃣ day 1 🇰🇪,” the star captioned the post.

Hargitay and Hermann are the best travel partners. In April 2023, the New York-based actors had a getaway to Los Angeles, where Hargitay was born and raised. In the pictures, they both stood outdoors on a bright, sunny day, and sported some sleek shades.

Then in June, the two traveled to Italy and shared a series of romantic selfies of them kissing on a boat, and standing inside a building with gorgeous architecture.

All about Mariska Hargitay and Peter Hermann’s marriage

Hargitay and Hermann met when he was a guest star on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, and they wed two years later.

In a 2018 interview with People, Hargitay opened up about what her husband means to her. “My husband is my North Star, and my kids are my teachers,” she said. “Our family is so perfect, or at least perfect for me. Together we’re just this whole, happy, joyful, chaotic, crazy unit. I’ve never known anything that was more right. Peter and I, we’re so different that it’s been amazing how we complement each other. He knows everything I don’t.”

In another interview with People a year later, she talked about why their marriage works so well. “We sort of knew that we found the right one,” she said. “I never thought it could be this good, and I never knew that I’d be reminded on the journey, that I’d marry the right one. That I waited and married the right one, and it’s better than I thought it was. Because sometimes you take a snapshot and you go, ‘I can’t believe this is my life.’”

Hermann himself also told People that the marriage brings light into his life. “I never thought I would have this much laughter in my life,” he said. “Not just actual laughter, but also the way that Mariska is just the embodiment of laughter—of joy…It’s the way we find our way back to each other. It’s this fantastically, wonderfully ridiculous way that we can swing back and forth any number of times in any given day. But fundamentally we know we have the same destination. We know where we’re headed, and it’s good. And we know we’ll get there together.”
