In an interview with Bootleg Kev, Mack 10 revealed he hasn’t spoken with his former Westside Connection bandmate Ice Cube in almost 20 years.

“I fuck with who fuck with me, you dig? That’s where I’m at with it. If you fuck with me, I fuck with you. But if it’s fuck me, it’s fuck you,” Mack said when asked if there’s potential to reunite Westside Connection in the future. “I ain’t seen him or talked to him in damn near 20 years, so there it is.”

Kev pointed out the trio had “classics” together; Mack said he understands, but chooses not to “rock with” anyone who has issues with him.

“It ain’t never been me, you know, with the hold-up,” he continued. “It ain’t never been my personality or who I am with the hold-up of us doing something. … But I fuck with who fuck with me, it is what it is.”

He was also asked if he’s given Cube’s supergroup Mount Westmore—with Snoop Dogg, Too Short and E-40—a listen at any point. “Not really,” Mack replied. “I mean I’ve heard bits and pieces of it, but not really. Westside Connection was a movement, it was a little different.”

The hip-hop trio, which also included WC, split around 2005 after Mack 10 and Ice Cube had a falling out. While they’ve never spoken openly about what caused the rift between them, Mack appeared to suggest in a VladTV interview in 2020 that it had something to do with Cube’s brother-in-law “fuck[ing] my money up.”

“It was just an unfortunate situation, as far as what came out of all that,” he said. “It ain’t like that just happened. … I went to Cube about four or five times before the conflict jumped off and told him to correct the situation. That’s the part that everybody leaves out.” He clarified that he and Cube only verbally argued over the ordeal.
