Ice Cube Weighs In On Prince Harry & Meghan Markle Quitting Royal Family: ‘They Should’ve Stuck It Out To Make Some Changes’

Compton rapper Ice Cube is sharing his take on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle quitting the Royal Family. While weighing in on the topic, Cube slams Harry and Markle, saying they “should’ve stuck it out.

The rap legend recently flew overseas to the United Kingdom to launch a BIG3 3×3 basketball league, which will debut this Summer. While abroad, he sat down with ‘Good Morning Britain’ for a colorful conversation. In one clip from the interview, Cube addresses some controversy over a 2016 headline.

The ‘Daily Mail’ titled the article: ‘Harry’s girls is (almost) straight outta Compton: Gang-scarred home of her mother revealed – so will he be dropping by for tea?’ In the article, the publication wrote about Prince Harry’s “new girl” and how she is from LA’s Crenshaw area in Los Angeles.

Throughout the article, the news site shared various data and statistics about the area. For instance, they wrote about the different gangs in the neighborhood, the fights over territory, how many crimes were reported within that week of publishing the article, etc. While speaking on the headline, Cube told ‘Good Morning Britain,’ “Some great people come out of Compton, some of them are better than the people who come out of Beverly Hills. It was a very off-colored joke.”

Additionally, the 54-year-old rap legend shared his thoughts on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex exiting the royal family back in January 2020. At the time, the couple shared that they would be stepping back as senior royals and working to become financially independent while living in America. Amid their leave, Markle alleged that the family had been racist towards her and their son Archie.

As someone who has notoriously called out racism in its tracks and fought for racial equality, Ice Cube gave a different perspective on how Prince Harry and Meghan Markle quitting the royal family hurt the advancement of racial justice. He believes they should have just “stuck it out.”

Cube said, “I think when you’re in the house, you can make more changes to the house. So that is kind of my opinion. If they stuck it out they might have been able to make some changes.”
