Ice Cube has finally responded to Katt Williams‘ shocking comments about his movie, “Friday After Next,” and he has a lot to clarify.

The entertainment industry was turned upside down after Williams spilled the tea on several celebrities like Ice Cube, claiming he refused to shoot a rape scene in the latter’s movie. However, the comedy film’s producer says his creative process never intended to use sexual abuse as a joke.

Williams’ comments about the hit 2002 stoner comedy film sparked a lengthy rebuttal from Ice Cube. The multi-hyphenate star addressed the allegations in an over nine-minute video, assuring fans that he would never put rape in his movies.

The 54-year-old, credited as a producer, screenwriter, and actor on “Friday After Next,” noted that he had “a lot of love for Katt” but wished to clarify the problems with his statements.

Ice Cube agreed that Williams changed part of his character’s script; however, this was only because the movie’s producers allowed actors to “enhance” their performances. Nonetheless, the script took priority over the actor’s thoughts, and changes would have been made per the producer’s wishes.

“Once we get what we want with the script, we let the comedians ad-lib, riff, you know, play with the words, and do their thing. We give them two, three takes where they can go off and do what they feel,” he explained, adding that if the alleged rape scene were necessary for the movie, it would have been added. In his words:

“At that point in everybody’s career, we will listen to a certain extent, but we wasn’t gonna change the movie for it. For any actor, you know? We do what we feel, and if it was a rape scene, it would have been in the movie. There was no reason not to shoot it. But that’s not my style.”

The film producer insisted that he did not enjoy shooting sexual assault scenes, refuting Williams’ claims that rape was included in the script to be funny. “I would never shoot a rape scene in a movie, especially Friday, where you actually see this happening on camera. That ain’t my style,” Ice Cube reaffirmed, adding:

“The plier joke was always in the script. We would never ever show that. That’s not my style if you look at any of my movies. So, that was never a discussion.”

Ice Cube’s lengthy reply on X generated mixed reactions from fans, with many supporting Williams. One user wrote, “Lmao, so basically, Katt Williams still hasn’t lied to us? Ok.” Another chimed, “Loooookkkkk…..b/c not ONE of these people has denied what Katt said so far. They are talking around the issue.”

A third supporter penned, “With all due respect to Ice Cube, Katt Williams never said the rape scene would be shown on camera, he simply said the character got raped, and he didn’t think rape should be part of a comedy. This response from Cube pretty much confirms what Katt said.”

Williams stirred the pot on his latest appearance on the “Club Shay Shay” podcast, where he opened up about a scene he had removed from “Friday After Next.” Although the 2002 film marked his first role, the comedian claimed he risked his movie debut to avoid shooting a sexual assault scene. In his words:

“The problem with Friday After Next is we’re trying to make a classic comedy, and this comedy involves a rape, and rape is never funny, no matter who it happens to or what the circumstances are.”

Williams noted that he “had to take the risk in front of the studios and the cast and the power that be in his very first movie, and say, ‘Respectfully, humbly, guys, if we’re talking about anything else, I have no credibility, and I have no pull.'”

“‘But we’re talking about comedy where I have all the credibility and all the pull,'” he recalled, insisting that he assured producers the movie would succeed without the rape scene. He said:

“‘If you would allow me to allow us to do this movie without a Black man getting raped in it, I promise you that it will be twice as funny as it would be with him getting raped.'”

Williams appeared in “Friday After Next” as the character Money Mike. The movie served as the third installment in the “Friday” franchise and followed Craig Jones (played by Ice Cube) and Chris Tucker’s character Smokey as they tried to pay their debts to a drug dealer.
