Though he reportedly boasts a cool $250 million to his name now, Drake emerged on the rap scene with a very different bank account balance.

The four-time Grammy Award winner revealed he was paid just $100 to be the opening act for rapper Ice Cube’s Canada gig in 2006.

Rumors about the low-paying sum of cash started to swirl years ago and were proved to be true this week when The Flyer Vault unearthed the original flier for the performance.

The flier showed the gig took place at the now-closed “Kool Haus” in Drake’s hometown of Toronto. The rapper performed songs from his debut mixtape “Room For Improvement.”

The flier also showed blacked-out invoice lines from Ramos Entertainment Management Group except for the payment to Drake, which shows $100.

Confirming that is, in fact, the amount that was handed over to him, Drake – whose real name is Aubrey Graham — provided some words of encouragement for those experiencing similar hardships at the start of their music careers.

“This is for anybody getting 100 a show right now… keep going,” the rapper wrote to his 122M followers alongside the invoice on his Instagram Story.

Though he’s had to prove himself many times on his journey to global fame, Drake is now considered to be one of the most successful rappers of all time.

He now reportedly boasts a more-than-comfortable net worth of $250 million, according to celebritynetworth.com.

It comes as the rapper, as well as his fellow Canadian peer The Weeknd, elected to sit out the 2023 Grammy Awards, marking the second year in a row that both Canadian artists have declined to participate, according to Vibe.
