When Camryn Manheim joined the cast of the Law & Order as Lieutenant Kate Dixon, she got a special surprise from Detective Olivia Benson herself.

“My favorite Law & Order Mariska [Hargitay] memory was when I got this role,” Manheim told The Messenger at the opening night of the Broadway play Appropriate, starring Sarah Paulson, on Monday at the Hayes Theater. “She said, ‘Girl, come over. I’m making you dinner,’ and when I came over she had Shake Shack burgers.”

Manheim quipped, “And I was like, ‘That’s my kind of woman.'”

The actress joined the cast of the Law & Order revival in 2022, after making her debut on the show three decades earlier. She was joined by Anthony Anderson and Sam Waterston, who both reprised their roles from the original run.

Returning to the show all those years later was a “full-circle moment,” Manheim told E! News last year.

“I was just a snot-nosed kid fresh out of graduate school and like every New York actor wanted to add Law & Order to my resumé,” Manheim said, adding that the writers planed on “really going deep” with the criminal cases.

“There’s uncomfortable situations that we’re just trying to get through. I mean, things are uncomfortable these days,” she explained.
