SZA divided fans as she recreated one of the final photos of Princess Diana for her new album cover.

The musician, 33, posed up on the edge of a diving board while at sea for new record S.O.S. in an eerie recreation of the late Royal gazing out on a luxury yacht just one week before her death in 1997.

Fans went wild on Twitter for the poignant tribute, with one writing: ‘I love both of them sm i never thot SZA would pay homage to Diana like this.

Another typed: ‘SZA is Princess Diana ’s second coming’ while a third wrote: ‘Sza ’s album cover being inspired by photos of princess diana on a yacht a week before her death… yeah i am not ready for this album.’

Another wrote: ‘Sza got me watching a Princess Diana documentary cuz why would she recreate her photo for album art.’

Others fans wrote “Inspired” when it’s straight up copy and paste lol’ with another questioning whether the art was ‘concerning or creative?’

The photo of Diana is one of the most iconic pictures of the Royal  – a solitary figure on a luxury yacht, gazing out to sea.

Divided: Some fans loved the homage but others questioned the decision

It was taken during Diana’s final holiday with boyfriend Dodi Fayed six days before their deaths on August 31, 1997.

Diana and Dodi holidayed for nine days aboard his father’s boat Jonikal before their fateful trip to Paris.

Diana and Dodi were riding in the passenger seats of a Mercedes-Benz, driven by Henri Paul, a security officer at The Ritz, when they were killed in a collision in Paris.

SZA’s new album is the follow-up to her 2017 debut record, Ctrl — and is expected in December.

Last month SZA said she was ‘currently stressed’ about meeting the deadline for her new album by December

She said: ‘But it’s not like, the album pressure… It’s just, life is f*****g hard. To be expected to do anything at a high level while life is life-ing is f*****g crazy. This isn’t meant for a person; it’s meant for a machine.’
