They’re co-stars in the forthcoming stoner comedy The Beach Bum.
And Snoop Dogg and Matthew McConaughey shared a hilarious anecdote from the set, when they revealed that Snoop gave an unsuspecting Matthew real marijuana during one of their scenes together.
‘You rapped for 13 hours straight,’ laughed the 47-year-old rapper during an interview with Jimmy Kimmel.
Wednesday night, McConaughey and Snoop Dogg were on Jimmy Kimmel Live to promote the zany American comedy written and directed by Harmony Korine.
McConaughey stars as Moondog, a rebellious hard partying writer who lives life on his own wacky terms in Florida.
During the interview the Contact performer admitted to being tricked by Snoop into smoking real marijuana instead of prop marijuana used in movies.
‘But I go to Snoop and I go to the prop man and make sure I’ve got prop weed,’ he said. ‘Now, prop weed is not real weed. It’s like crushed oregano and stuff.’
‘So we get in the scene, it’s about a six minute scene. We pass back and forth, and all of a sudden at the end, he goes, ‘Yo, Moondog that ain’t prop weed. That’s Snoop weed.’ And I went, ‘Oh, you son of a gun.’

‘You said I rapped a lot.’
And the Snoop’s Upside Ya Head hitmaker revelaed he and the True Detective star were destined to be pals.
‘I think me and Matthew are meant for each other,’ he said. ‘It’s supposed to be.’
