He has been spending time at the Venice Film Festival where he attended a dinner held in his honour on Friday night.

However it appeared to only be a flying visit for Johnny Depp, as he was pictured leaving the city just a day later by water taxi on Saturday afternoon.

In his true kooky style, the actor, 56, caught the eye of onlookers as he carried a partially-cracked guitar emblazoned with the words ‘just a tad broken’ on masking tape.

Depp plays a sinister character named Colonel Joll in the film.

Barbarians also stars Robert Pattinson and Mark Rylance, an actor who has enjoyed success in the theater world and now also in Hollywood, having won a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for 2016’s Bridge Of Spies.

Playing the villain should surely not be foreign to the actor, especially since his last major role was Grindelwald in the Harry Potter spin-off Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.

This year is a family affair for Johnny at the Venice Film Festival, as his daughter with Vanessa Paradis, Lily-Rose Depp, has also made an attention-getting appearance at the proceedings.

The 20-year-old actress is starring opposite Timothee Chalamet in the historical Netflix epic The King.
