Ed Sheeran says he once got so stoned with Snoop Dogg at one of his live shows that he lost his sense of sight.

Singer-songwriter Sheeran met the weed loving rapper after watching him perform at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena  in March, an event also attended by Hollywood star Russell Crowe.

The night started innocently enough, with the British star, 32, treating wife Cherry Seaborn and his mother-in-law Ann to a backstage meeting with Snoop after his show at the Australian venue.

But events soon went awry after Sheeran indulged the 51-year old rapper and his entourage by smoking weed with them – resulting in some unfortunate consequences.

He told the Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend podcast: ‘I remember him meeting my mother-in-law and being like, “What’s up, queen?”

‘I’ve sort of got quite close friends with Russell Crowe over the years and he is really close with Snoop Dogg.’

He added: ‘I don’t really smoke at all but I was in the dressing room and they were just like blunt for blunt for blunt for blunt. I was like, I guess at some point during the night, I have to, just to say I smoked with Snoop Dogg.

‘He was like, “Do you want some?” so I have a bit and I was like, I don’t feel too bad, this is good. Then I have a bit more, and then I have a bit more, and then I have a bit more.

‘I just remember looking at him and being like, I can’t see right now.’

In Instagram footage of their meeting, Snoop, who is well known for his love of cannabis, is seen sitting in-between the two men with a glass jar of green herbs on the table in front of him.

The clip also appears to show Snoop gifting both Sheeran and Crowe a chunky logo chain from his Death Row Records jewellery line.

Snoop has made a habit of gifting celebrities this chain when he meets them, having previously awarded them to Jamie Foxx and Cruz Beckham – the youngest son of David and Victoria Beckham.

In October 2022, Snoop’s professional ‘joint roller’ revealed the flamboyant American rapper smokes up to 150 marijuana blunts a day.

The Gin and Juice star lives in California where recreational marijuana use is legal, and has employed a full-time joint roller since 2016.

The employee, known as Renegade, revealed on The Kyle and Jackie O Show she had rolled more than 450,000 joints for Snoop during that time.

‘I calculate it at over 450,000. I do about half a pound a day, which is 75 to 150 joints,’ she told radio hosts Kyle Sandilands and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson.

In 2015, the rap artist launched his own platform called Merry Jane, a lifestyle media site that serves as an information hub for everyone interested in weed geared towards the occasional to the daily smoker.
