Camila Cabello took to Instagram on Sunday to show off a new tattoo she got on the back of her neck to pay homage to Mother Nature.

The singer, 24, quoted a passage from the 2013 book Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer that read, ‘The word ecology is derived from the Greek word “oikos,” the word for home.’

The Cojímar, Cuba-born entertainer said that ‘this book on Indigenous wisdom and plants changed my life.’

She continued: ‘After I read it, I knew I’d never look at the earth and all of it’s inhabitants the same. It taught me about reciprocity, about the gift and wisdom in Mother Nature, and that when we heal the Earth, we heal ourselves. “All flourishing is mutual.”‘

The musical artist said she was ‘so glad’ tattoo artist Kane Navasard ‘and his talent helped me honor this special book today.’

Navasard also shared a shot of the tattoo, writing, ‘A tiny sweetgrass braid for a sweetheart @camila_cabello.’

In August, Cabello appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where she told host Jimmy Fallon that she and boyfriend Shawn Mendes have matching tattoos.

‘I have a tattoo of Shawn on my lower back too … it says “señor,” and he has one on his lower back that says “señorita,”‘ she said in the appearance.

Cabello and Mendes, 23, have been romantically linked since July of 2019, shortly after they released their hit duet Señorita.

The couple had worked together years earlier on the 2015 song I Know What You Did Last Summer.

They first crossed each others paths in 2014 as they were touring together when she was a member of the group Fifth Harmony.

Mendes in August spoke with Audacy Check In about his song Summer of Love with Tainy, noting that the tune was inspired by his romance with Cabello.

‘It was like writing about the first couple of months actually in the lockdown,’ she said. ‘

Camila and I were so lucky because we were able to just kind of be in a still moment, and it was the first time in the past six years that we’ve been just able to relax and not work at all.

‘Just kind of writing about that … had a lot of nostalgia at that time, and I think without that time we found it a lot harder to connect. It really brought us together.’
