Camila Cabello has shared a heartfelt apology for ‘language’ used when she was ‘younger’ in a lengthy Instagram post.

The Havana singer has previously been accused of using racial slurs online in now defunct tumblr accounts.

The 22-year-old songstress admitted she was ‘uneducated and ignorant’ in Wednesday’s post, which comes days after her former Fifth Harmony bandmate Normani opened up about her experience of racially abused by Camila’s fans during their time in the band.

Wrote Camila: ‘When I was younger, I used language that I’m deeply ashamed of and will regret forever.

I was uneducated and ignorant and once I became aware of the history and the weight and the truth behind this horrible and hurtful language, I was deeply embarrassed I ever used it.

Out and about: Hours before her length apology, Camila was spotted out shopping with her mother in Los Angeles ahead of the holidays

The 22-year-old songstress admitted she was ‘uneducated and ignorant’ years after her former Fifth Harmony bandmate, Normani, was forced to take a step back from social media following an interview where Camila’s fans hurled racial abuse at the singer.

‘I apologized then and I apologize now. I would never intentionally hurt anyone and I regret it from the bottom of my heart.

As much as I wish I could, I can’t go back in time and change things I said in the past. But once You know better, you do better and that’s all I can do.’

Camila went on with her apology: ‘I’m 22 now, I’m an adult and I’ve grown and learned and am conscious and aware of the history and the pain it carries in a way I wasn’t before.

‘Those mistakes don’t represent the person I am or a person I’ve ever been. I only stand and have ever stood for love and inclusivity, and my heart has ever, even then, had an ounce of hate or divisiveness.

‘The truth is I was embarrassingly ignorant and unaware,’ she said. ‘I use my platform to speak out about injustice and inequality and I’ll continue doing that.

I can’t say enough how deeply sorry and ashamed I feel, and I apologize again from the bottom of my heart.’

Hours before her length apology, Camila was spotted out shopping with her mother in Los Angeles ahead of the holidays.

Sad: During an interview in 2016, Camila’s fans weren’t happy with Normani’s description of Cabello and attacked her on social media by calling her racial slurs and super-imposing her face on to images of lynched slaves, according to PopBuzz; seen in December

During an interview in 2016, Camila’s fans weren’t happy with Normani’s brief description of Cabello and attacked her on social media by calling her racial slurs and super-imposing her face on to images of lynched slaves.

Normani recently told Fader that while her bandmates, including Camila, ‘offered support… I’m not sure they could be there in the way that I needed because it’s not their experience.

‘They don’t have to face on a day-to-day basis the things that I have to. I definitely learned after that that I had to walk a different way. I can’t look like everybody else.’

Various websites have reported that screenshots from Camila’s accounts from when she was 14-years-old showed her using racial slurs in conversation.

In a resurfaced Twitter thread, screenshots showed that Camila reblogged photos of racial stereotypes in addition to various memes featuring the n-word.

With boyfriend Shawn Mendes away on tour, Camila was able to get in some last minute shopping with mom at the Grove mall in Los Angeles on Tuesday.

She paired her yellow sweater with black leggings and matching booties, and wore her famously luscious locks down and over her shoulders.

The singer is celebrating her second studio album Romance, which was released through Epic Records and Syco Music on Dec. 6.

Romance debuted at No. 3 on Billboard and includes the chart-topper Senorita, a duet she sings with boyfriend Shawn, 21.

The couple, who made their heavily speculated relationship official five months ago, have had no interest in hiding their feelings for each other.

Their affection was on full display at the American Music Awards in November, where they took home Collaboration of the Year for Senorita and wowed the audience with a sultry performance of the No. 1 hit.

In an Instagram photo with his girlfriend from the big night, Shawn wrote ‘@amas thank you everyone thank you so much!! also @camila_cabello i admire you so much you unbelievable human being thank you for being you’ we love u guys’

Senorita is also nominated for a Grammy in the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance category.
