Johnny Depp could play Satan after God kills humanity in a new upcoming project.
Johnny Depp is one of the greatest actors of all time. His roles are the most diverse and the characters that he plays have very distinctive, and eccentric personalities.
From playing the role of Jack Sparrow to Willy Wonka, Edward Scissorhands, and the Mad Hatter, there is nothing that the actor cannot do.
Being as fantastic as he is, it is only natural that people want him to star in their films.

The most recent addition to this is the 12 Monkeys director, Terry Gilliam.

Not only does he want him to star in this film, but he wants the Pirates of the Caribbean actor to play the role of Satan, who is also the protagonist.

Terry Gilliam Wants Johnny Depp To Play Satan
Terry Gilliam is an extremely well-known and respected filmmaker, best known for projects like Brazil, The Man Who Killed Don Quixote, Time Bandits, and 12 Monkeys.
He recently gave an interview with Variety, where he talked about his upcoming movie, Carnival at the End of Days, voicing his desire to star, the highly beloved Johnny Depp in this film.
In the past, he has worked with Johnny Depp a number of times, including in the 1998 movie, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and the 2009 movie, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.

The film is quite different from the works that the actor usually features in, however, there is absolutely no doubt that he would fit perfectly in it.
Not only because he has worked with the director earlier, but because of the role that Gilliam wants him to play, that of Satan.
Considering how many odd roles Depp has played in the past, this would fit perfectly in his filmography.
What Is The Movie About?
While many might assume that since Satan is to feature in this movie, it would be in a negative light, this does not seem to be the case.
Carnival at the End of Days features the story of an earth that has been wiped out of humanity by the hands of God.
Oddly enough, the only character interested in saving the human race is Satan, who could be played by Johnny Depp.

The concept is that since humanity has been wiped out, Satan doesn’t have a job anymore, which is the worst possible fate for an immortal being.
In order to convince God to change his mind, he finds some young people and puts them forth as a new version of Adam and Eve.
However, this does not work and God wipes out humanity anyway. Ironically enough, Terry Gilliam mentions that this movie is a comedy.
