“Cruel Summer” reaches the No. 1 spot on this week’s edition of the Adult Contemporary chart, which tracks the most successful songs at AC radio stations across the U.S., based on audience impressions. The single lifts from the runner-up rung, where it’s been stuck for some time, to No. 1 after weeks of waiting.

As Swift conquers the tally, she pushes Miley Cyrus out of the limelight. That pop superstar’s “Flowers” dips to No. 2 after just recently making history. Last week, Cyrus’ smash earned its thirty-seventh stay atop the Adult Contemporary chart. “Flowers” now holds the record for the most time spent at No. 1 on that radio list—a record it earned just one week ago.

Last week, “Flowers” broke out of its tie with Maroon 5’s “Girls Like You” to score the title of the longest-running No. 1 smash of all time on the Adult Contemporary chart. Just a few days later, it looks like it will have to settle for a lead of just one frame over the previous record holder. It’s possible that Swift may step aside again and that Cyrus could recapture the throne in the coming weeks or months, but chances are “Flowers” is done with its time on top.
