The New York Yankees should make one more major move to help the rotation.

New York is in a good spot but still needs to do a little more work. The Yankees should be able to make the postseason with the roster as is, but still aren’t the top team in the American League East.

The Baltimore Orioles won 101 games last season and recently added superstar Corbin Burnes in a trade with the Milwaukee Brewers. If the Yankees want to compete for a World Series title, they still need to add some pitching help. Baltimore currently is a better club and then the Los Angeles Dodgers and Atlanta Braves are at the top of the National League.

New York has been linked to multiple hurlers to help the rotation but the club shouldn’t wait around and get something done sooner rather than later. There still are some solid options available and Blake Snell, Jordan Montgomery, and Dylan Cease all have been mentioned as options by The Athletic’s Jim Bowden.

“Bottom line: If the Yankees are going to make the playoffs and contend for a World Series title, it’s not without adding another strong starter, and with Blake Snell and Jordan Montgomery left on the free-agent board and Dylan Cease of the (Chicago White Sox) still available via trade, New York must land one of them,” Bowden said. “At least that’s my take.”

Until any of the three end up elsewhere, they will continue to be mentioned as options for the Yankees. New York seems to be going all in on the 2024 campaign. Why not make one more move?
