Courtney Love not so subtly accused Olivia Rodrigo of copying her band Hole’s 1994 Live Through This album cover via social media — which later prompted an exchange between the two where Courtney asked for flowers and a handwritten note as reparations.
The 56-year-old grunge singer took to Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram on June 24 to speak her mind, as she shared a photo of the ‘Good 4 You’ Singer’s ‘Sour Prom’ promotional shoot and wrote ‘spot the difference! #twinning.’
After a Facebook fan inquired if Courtney was ‘mad or nah,’ about the alleged manic prom queen rip on the 18-year-old’s end, she responded: ‘she didn’t ask. So bit of both. I dig manners.’

Fighting for the crown! Courtney Love accuses Olivia Rodrigo of copying Hole’s 1994 Live Through This album cover in new social media posts
Love’s band Hole used an image of a crying prom queen/beauty queen with smeared mascara running down her eyes for their 1994 cover.
The visuals seemed to be a loose inspiration on Olivia’s end as she also donned a crown and flowers with similar running eye makeup in an image for her song ‘Sour.’
Courtney tagged Olivia in all three social media posts which seemed to be coming from a place of hurt over the fact that Olivia ‘didn’t ask’ her for permission.
On Facebook one fan asked: ‘I honestly can’t tell if ur mad or nah bestie,’ to which the ‘Celebrity Skin’ singer wrote: ‘she didn’t ask. So bit of both. I dig manners.’

And then on Instagram the comparison prompted a back and forth with the ‘Driver’s License’ singer, as well as famed nineties band Garbage.
Garbage’s official Instagram account wrote: ‘You did it the best though babe. Always and forever.’
One fan seemed to see the post as a petty dig as they wrote: ‘it isn’t about who did it best… how about just women supporting women? The younger generation taking inspiration from the ones that paved the way,’ in response to the exchange with Garbage.
Courtney quipped to that fan: ‘@garbage Can prefer the version of my idea that she likes best. You’re lucky that she walked through fire for you now and is the revolutionary that she is. Allowing your life to be embodied and frail currently… Keep your ageist sexism to yourself here!’

After Olivia got wind of the comparison she seemed to try and soften the situation. ‘Love u and live through this sooooo much.’
Courtney then seemed to feel vindicated by the acknowledgement but in her response back she boldly pushed for a formal apology in writing form and flowers from the singer.
‘@oliviarodrigo Olivia – you’re welcome. My favorite florist is in Notting Hill, London! Dm me for deets! I look forward to reading your note!’
This has not been the first time Rodrigo has been accused of taking inspiration from other artists — as many do in the music world.
Her song ‘Good 4 You’ has been compared by way of blatantly similar chords to Paramore’s ‘Misery Business.’
