After starring alongside each other in Christopher Nolan’s 2010 film, Inception, Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hardy once again shared the screen in the 2015 action drama The Revenant. Based on the 2002 novel of the same name, the movie follows a legendary frontiersman, Hugh Glass, trying to survive in the wilderness, after being abandoned by his hunting crew, to avenge his son. Unlike the 2010 movie, The Revenant featured the Hollywood stars against each other.

They still had a great relationship off-camera. However, despite being good friends, the Titanic star believes that his co-star enjoyed filming one of the sequences that required Hardy to bury him in a hole.

Leonardo DiCaprio Claims Tom Hardy Enjoyed Burying Him

Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s 2015 action drama features a grizzly bear attack on Leonardo DiCaprio’s character, Hugh Glass. After this, the group of frontiersmen decides to leave him with a few men so that he can be laid to rest in peace after his demise.

John Fitzgerald, portrayed by Tom Hardy, however, decides to wrap things up quickly and kills Glass’ son and buries him in a makeshift grave, which leads to the rivalry between Glass and Fitzgerald. While the Inception co-stars do not feel the same about each other, Hardy claimed that he had no issues leaving the Oscar-winning actor in the hole.

“Well, it was very simple,” he said as he talked about filming the scene before adding, “I just left him in a hole. The rest is history.” DiCaprio also quipped in, saying that one specific sequence was even more enjoyable for his co-star.

“Come to think of it, that burial sequence was your extra little fun. You were like, ‘extra dirt on his face, man,” the Shutter Island star added. However, unlike their on-screen characters, they have continued to be good friends and have said they’re cool with each other.

Leonardo DiCaprio Convinced Tom Hardy For the 2015 Film

The 2015 action drama starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hardy, The Revenant, was highly praised by the audience and critics alike. The Mad Max star also landed his first Oscar nomination for The Revenant, and he has shared that it would not have been possible without DiCaprio. During an interview, Hardy shared that The Departed actor was the one who told him about the movie and advised him to take the role before accepting any other offer.

The Legend actor shared that Sean Penn was initially set to play John Fitzgerald, but he was not available. Hardy shared that he received a call from DiCaprio, who told him, “You need to do this before you go off and do this other film.” The 45-year-old English actor shared that he found the script and its characters intriguing and decided to star in the movie.
