FANS have been praying for Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt to reunite and the pair fanned the flames with a tender moment at the 2020 SAG Awards.

Onlookers couldn’t hide their excitement as the former couple embraced each other backstage, but what exactly caused their year marriage to end.

Why did Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston split?

Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt shocked the world when they announced their separation in January 2005 after seven years of being together.

Their divorce was finalised in October 2005, however in the months in between, there was intense media speculation about Brad’s relationship with his Mr & Mrs Smith co-star Angelina Jolie.

While the two stars eventually did get together, they have always maintained their relationship was platonic until after his divorce.

However the drama continues to be discussed to this day, but Jennifer tried to silence speculation once and for all in 2015 by telling The Hollywood Reporter: “Nobody did anything wrong…it was just like, sometimes things [happen].”

Are Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston getting back together?

Talks of the couple getting back together have gone into overdrive after they were seen sharing an embrace backstage at the 2020 SAG Awards.

For most, bumping into your ex is the stuff of nightmares, but these two seem to be enjoying each other’s company and sending the rumour mill into overdrive.

On January 6 the pair were both at the Golden Globes and Jen was filmed clapping and smiling at Brad’s acceptance speech, which seemed to escalate the rumours about the status of their relationship.

Brad told reporters: “I’ll run into Jen, she’s a good friend” and things hotted up when they were seated near each other along with Reese Witherspoon and Leonardo DiCaprio.

The pair went to two Golden Globes after-parties together, but left separately.

Before being spotted together holding hands at the SAG Awards on January 19 , Jennifer spoke with Entertainment Tonight on the red carpet about the rumours, she revealed: “It’s hysterical – but what else are they going to talk about.”

Jennifer could be seen smiling at Brad’s jokes, even when he referenced his wife troubles during his speech:”This role was a bit of a stretch. Guy who gets high, takes his shirt off, doesn’t get along with his wife.”

Brad and Jennifer seem to have grown closer over the past two years since Brad split with wife Angelina Jolie and they’ve been spotted at a number of special occasions together.

In February 2019, Brad apparently bought a secret gift for Jen’s 50th and the exes were seen hugging and chatting at her birthday party at LA’s Sunset Tower Hotel.

Then in December 2019 he also went along to her annual Christmas Tree Trimming party.

What reunion brought them together?

Aniston and Pitt were two of the actors who participated in a virtual table read for the 1982 film Fast Times at Ridgemont High.

Dane Cook, who also appeared, shared a photo of the event on Instagram.

“Ridgemont High is back in session! #FastTimesLive will stream on September 17 at 9PM ET / 6PM PT,” he wrote.

The classic ’80s comedy was directed by Amy Heckerling and features an All-Star cast including Sean Penn and Jennifer Jason Leigh.

Shortly after her divorce in 2005 Jennifer talked about her shock at her marriage ended.

Speaking on the Today Show she said: “Am I lonely? Yes. Am I upset? Yes. Am I confused? Yes. Do I have my days when I’ve thrown a little pity party for myself? Absolutely. But I’m also doing really well.”

Jennifer said she was aware of Brad’s attraction to Angelina, his Mr. and Mrs. Smith co-star, but didn’t blame their split on her.

“It’s just complicated,” Jennifer said. “There are all these levels of growth — and when you stop growing together, that’s when the problems happen.”

When referring to Brad she added: “There’s a sensitivity chip that’s missing.”
