Mark Wahlberg has joked he was deliberately left out of Ben Affleck’s star-studded Super Bowl advert.

In the commercial for doughnut chain Dunkin’, Affleck was seen forming a boyband with fellow Boston-born actor Matt Damon and former football star Tom Brady – who played for Boston-area team the New England Patriots – making mention of the city and even wearing orange tracksuits with “Boston” emblazoned on the back.

Now fellow Boston actor Wahlberg, 52, has joked he should have been a part of the ‘The DunKings’ group.

During an appearance on ‘The Late Show With Stephen Colbert’, Wahlberg was asked why he wasn’t involved and the actor replied: “You know, I was wondering the same thing. I have no idea. I’m from the wrong side of the tracks, I think.”

He then added: “[I’m] trying to work my way into their good graces … [the advert was] very, very funny. I think, hopefully, they’ll give me the call one of these days, but I’m still waiting patiently.”

Affleck’s wife Jennifer Lopez was also involved in the commercial, and was seen dismissing Affleck’s attempts at pop stardom by insisting he will not be featured on her new album.

After failing to impress the pop star, Affleck’s group trudges off but the singer calls out: “Tom, you can stay”.

Affleck and Damon are then seen walking off with ‘The Martian’ star saying: “Remember when I told you I’d do anything for you? This is anything.”

Affleck then added: “Chill. They’re naming a drink after us.”

The advert was part two of Affleck’s pop star journey after a previously spot showed him setting out on a journey to prove he’s not glum by following his wife into the music industry.

He was seen trying out dance moves with influencer Charli D’Amelio and giving himself a motivational talk saying: “They tell you you’re no good. You’re a goofy, middle-aged, clumsy white guy with no rhythm and you can’t sing on key. You’re not coordinated.

That means I can’t be a pop star? Underestimate Boston? At your peril.”

The showbiz couple previously debuted their Dunkin’ partnership during the 2023 Super Bowl.

The actor was seen working in a branch of the doughnut at the drive-thru window when his wife pulls up and scolds him, saying: “What are you doing? Is that what you do when you say you’re going to work all day?”
