The University of Michigan men’s football team is heading to the national championship game! And perhaps no one is more excited than Tom Brady.
The seven-time Super Bowl champion and former University of Michigan quarterback shared his excitement on Instagram during the Rose Bowl game on Monday night, taking a video of himself without a shirt on and yelling out in celebration after the final play.
“Woohoo! Let’s go!” Brady, 46, screamed into the camera after the Wolverines defense stopped University of Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe on the final play of the game, sealing a dramatic 27-20 overtime win.
The Rose Bowl victory sends Michigan to the national championship game for the first time since 1997, when Brady and the Wolverines last won it all under coach Lloyd Carr.

Brady played quarterback for the Wolverines from 1995 until 1999 and backed up future NFL star Brian Griese during the team’s 1997 NCAA National Championship season. Brady would go on to take over for Griese in 1998 and 1999, throwing for 30 touchdowns and 4,644 yards over the next two seasons.
The future five-time Super Bowl MVP’s last collegiate game was also an overtime win over Alabama, when the Wolverines beat the Crimson Tide 35-34 in the 2000 Orange Bowl.
Brady was famously picked last in the NFL Draft later that year by the New England Patriots, kicking off the most successful professional football career in history.

The all-time NFL wins leader first retired in 2022 after winning a seventh Super Bowl with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before he decided to play for one more season. Brady then officially retired “for good” last February, he announced in an emotional video on social media.

The legendary quarterback has since poked fun at himself for the double retirement, joking this week that he almost tried to unretire a second time in early 2023 before his friends forced him to stay put.
“The only downside to 2023 was when I was about to unretire in May and my friends threw a surprise retirement party. Kind of forced my hand 😂,” Brady joked on Instagram.
Although Brady is no longer competing on the field, Monday night’s elated social media post shows there’s still plenty for him to be excited about on the sidelines.
