Leonardo DiCaprio’s birthday rap performance has been heavily mocked online as fans playfully compared it to other iconic cringe-worthy moments.

The actor, 49, was the life and soul of the party at his birthday celebrations in Beverly Hills, California on Saturday, where he hosted a star-studded guest list.

However despite the eyes of Hollywood watching, Leonardo didn’t shy away from the spotlight, as he took to the stage to perform a rap.

Leo was seen being hoisted on a chair at the gathering, and later rapping into a microphone to the 1994 song DWYCK from Gang Starr and Nice & Smooth.

A video taken of the moment and later shared online, showed Leonardo spitting bars as the crowd around him went wild for the show.

Although his party guests appeared to be loving the performance, the same couldn’t be said for his fans online, who couldn’t help but laugh at his rap.

Leonardo was compared to Succession character Kendall Roy, who performed a self-written rap dedicated to his father Logan to celebrate 50 years in business.

During the scene, where Kendall [Jeremy Strong] raps on season two, episode eight, dubbed Dundee, the ‘eldest son’ of Logan Roy takes to the stage.

It begins: ‘Born on the North Bank, king of the East Side // 50 years strong, now he’s rolling in a stick ride // Handmade suits, raking in loot // Five-star general, y’all best salute.’

He then starts the catchy chorus, which is: ‘L to the OG // Dude be the OG // A-N he playing // Playing like a pro, see // L to the OG // Dude be the OG // A-N he playing // Playing like a pro.’

While the performance gets off to an awkward start, some guests in the room get to their feet to cheer him on, but his stoic father remains unimpressed.

Drawing comparison between Kendall and Leo on a Reddit feed, one person wrote: ‘How Kendall Roy of him’, with another adding: ‘L TO THE OG.’

Another admitted: ‘First thing I thought when I saw this.’, while a different person replied: ‘But even Ken wasn’t rapping at his own party.’

Some other fans referenced a moment in the final episode of the series, where Kendall demands to be made head of Waystar Royco following the death of his father Logan, simply because he is the ‘eldest boy’.

One person joked: ‘Leo is the eldest boy.’

Another said: ‘Came into the comments just for this!’

A different person agreed, writing: ‘It’s definitely giving off ‘eldest boy’ vibes’.

One person on Twitter, shared a meme of Kendall, and wrote: ‘Kendall Roy called, says L Di Cap, stole his swag which is um like not cool dude like so not cool yo.’

One fan made another pop reference in regards to claims Britney Spears made in her book that Justin Timberlake used an inauthentic ‘blaccent’ to impress Black musicians, citing a meeting with rapper R&B singer Ginuwine.

Britney claimed that Justin said, ‘Oh yeah, fo’ shiz, fo’ shiz. Ginuwine! What’s up, homie?’ – a line quoted on Reddit in regards to Leo’s rap performance.

The Titanic leading man, who proved he is still king of the world with the iconic show, donned a black T-shirt, jeans and a baseball cap at the party in his honour.

The performance took place in a heavily decorated room full of balloons, as the cohort of celebs partied until the early hours.

The Killers of the Flower Moon star was joined by new girlfriend Vittoria Ceretti, 25, as well as Beyonce and husband Jay-Z, Lady Gaga and Kim Kardashian.

Also at the birthday bash were Salma Hayek, Chris Rock, Kate Beckinsale, Zoe Kravitz and Channing Tatum, Rita Ora, Zoe Saldana and Snoop Dogg.

The soiree drew an A-list crowd from all corners of Hollywood, from movies, music and even reality television, with a strict guest list organizers adhered to.
