Jason Kelce makes feelings clear on Eagles future with retirement plan in place
The veteran could end his career
Jason Kelce has stated his wish to remain with the Philadelphia Eagles when he finally decides to step away from football. The NFL star’s future has been a hot topic of discussion amid speculation regarding his retirement, but even if he does hang up his cleats in the offseason, he has pledged his future with the NFC franchise for as long as they want him.
The veteran center has spent 13 seasons in the NFL and reportedly told his team-mates that their wild-card loss against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers would be his final game.
Kelce has since publicly denied that he has made a decision on his future as the 36-year-old weighs up his next move.
But whether he continues playing in 2024 or bows out of professional football, Kelce is determined to maintain a role within the Eagles’ organization in the future.
“I don’t know what’s going to happen for me. But I do know, I still want to be involved in the organization and still want to be a part of it, regardless of what the decision is,” Kelce told The Philadelphia Inquirer.
“Because I don’t want to ever feel like I’m on the outside looking in on these achievements and these accolades and these opportunities that largely represent entire cities and fan bases and organizations. It’s too good a feeling to pass up.”
Kelce has already created his legacy
The older brother of Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce has played the role of a supporting sibling after attending the tight end’s 17-10 AFC Championship win over the Detroit Lions on Sunday.
Prior to that, Jason stole the show for celebrating wildly in the stands, going shirtless and chugging beers with fans in the VIP suite along with Taylor Swift.
Kylie Kelce reveals how she feels about her husband Jason’s recent wild celebration
But as a player, he has commanded respect for his performances and his longevity should help him secure a place in the NFL Hall of Fame when he eventually steps away.
Kelce has spent 13 seasons with the Eagles, the only team he has ever played for, and it will be an emotional day when he bids farewell to the NFL. But for the Eagles, it may prove to be the beginning of the icon’s budding coaching career.
