Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt will forever by synonymous with the Olympic Games for what he achieved in both the 100 metres and 200 metres.

Bolt won gold in both at the 2008 Games in Beijing, the 2012 Games in London and the 2016 Games in Rio de Janeiro.

The current world record in the men’s 100m is 9.58 seconds, set by Bolt at the Athletics World Championship in 2009.

At that competition he also set the 200m world record with a time of 19.19, a record that still stands today.

With the men’s 100m final at the 2024 Games coming up on Sunday evening, we’ve compared the fasted stars in Premier League history with Bolt.

Perhaps surprisingly, Tottenham Hotspur centre-back Micky van de Ven is the fasted clocked the fastest speed in Premier League history, reaching 37.38 kilometres per hour in a match last season.

It’s no surprise that Kyle Walker is close to top spot, but the Manchester City full-back has to settle for second place with a speed of 37.31 km/h.

Luton Town’s Chiedozie Ogbene is third with 36.93 km/h, with Nottingham Forest winger Anthony Elanga fourth with 36.91 km/h and Wolves’ Pedro Neto fifth with 36.86 km/h.

Brighton midfielder Jakub Moder is just behind with 36.84 km/h, followed by Liverpool’s Dominik Szoboszlai on 36.73 km/h.

Bringing up the rear in eighth place is Burnley man Dara O’Shea, also with 36.73.

Unfortunately for the Premier League stars, none of them quite matched the pace of Bolt during his world record-breaking 100m race in 2009.

The Jamaican star reached a speed of 37.58 km/h that night in Berlin, meaning he was 0.20 km/h faster than Van de Ven.
