Could one of Caitlin Clark’s teammates be leaving the Fever?

Caitlin Clark’s first season in the WNBA officially came to an end on Wednesday night, as the Indiana Fever suffered an 87-81 defeat at the hands of the Connecticut Sun in Game 2 of their first-round playoff series.

As a result, the Fever were sent home for the offseason, and while the 2024 campaign was wildly encouraging for the team, it’s clear that some changes need to be made.

One player who has found herself in trade rumors for quite some time is NaLyssa Smith, and they popped back up again after her quiet outing in this loss to the Sun. With the season over and these rumors picking up again, Smith added fuel to the fire by removing Indiana Fever from her Instagram bio.

Despite having a smaller role with the team this season, Smith put up some solid numbers when she was on the floor for Indiana (10.6 PPG, 7.1 RPG, 1 APG, 48 FG%).

She only played 13 total minutes in the Fever’s two-game series against the Sun, though, so it seems like she could be on the move if she no longer has a big role with the team.

At the end of the day, Indiana’s main objective is to build a championship caliber team around Clark, and given Smith’s latest move, a trade may be what’s best for all parties involved.
