Jude Bellingham showed his class by making time for Dani Carvajal’s young kids after England’s Euro 2024 final defeat by Spain.
But it’s not the first time the 21-year-old has displayed his warm-heartedness after the heat of battle. After Real Madrid’s 2-0 win over Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League final last month, Bellingham picked up and hugged several of his team-mates’ children in what was a sincere moment picked up by cameras.
The former Birmingham man danced with them and gave them high-fives as he celebrated Real’s triumph. He felt a different kind of emotion on Sunday as he ended up on the wrong side of the scoreline in the Euro 2024 final.
However, the England international midfielder still showed his maturity as he made his way to congratulate his Real Madrid team-mate, alongside his two young sons, in the dugout.
After congratulating fellow Madrid star Nacho Fernandez and ex-team-mate Joselu, Bellingham had a brief chat with Carjaval’s kids before heading into the tunnel to join his international team-mates.
Although it was a night to forget for the Three Lions, Bellingham still had the presence of mind to put rivalry to one side and show a great degree of humility and humbleness.
Defeat in Berlin signalled Gareth Southgate’s last game in charge of the Three Lions. The former Middlesbrough boss confirmed his decision to quit the role in a statement on Tuesday morning.
Bellingham discussed Southgate’s future after the game on Sunday and admitted the now ex-England boss has his “respect and love”, regardless of what comes next.
“He is someone who, I think, in the last year or two as well, our relationship’s kind of gone a little bit past football, where I feel like I can open up to him a lot and I think that speaks volumes of the kind of man he is as well,” Bellingham explained.
“Whatever happens with Gareth, I’ll always respect him. If he stays, then I’ll be even more determined to win something for him because he deserves it.

“Sometimes the numbers and the kind of statistics, the records don’t lie, he’s been our most successful manager since 1966. So whatever he decides, he will always have my respect and my love.”
