Caitlin Clark Relives Old Tradition With Kate Martin at Children’s Hospital as LPGA Preparations Come to a Halt

Caitlin Clark had an incredible season, leading the Indiana Fever to their first playoff appearance in eight years and earning the coveted Rookie of the Year honor. But achieving all that success didn’t come without its challenges—she faced intense physical play throughout the season, requiring relentless hustle on her part. Now, Clark is taking some well-deserved downtime, whether on the golf course or unwinding with her loved ones and former Iowa teammates. It seems she hasn’t forgotten the cherished rituals she shared with Kate Martin during their college days.

Clark is on a trip to Iowa, visiting her alma mater and friends from the team. Recently, a tweet surfaced on X suggesting that the Fever guard also visited the children’s hospital yesterday. The tweet read, “They went to the damn children’s hospital yesterday TOO 😭😭😭 someone give these girls their flowers NOWW.” Accompanying the tweet were a couple of photos showing Clark and her former teammate Kate Martin, both beaming as they stood near the hospital bedding.

While this is heartwarming in itself, the former Iowa duo didn’t do anything new, as they have been visiting the hospital regularly since their college days. Later, another tweet brought further attention to their hospital visit, sharing a couple of snapshots of a report and an online comment. The report mentioned a patient meeting Clark and Martin in the past at the Ronald McDonald House in Iowa City, while the other comment noted that the user’s brother, a nurse at the hospital, had seen them visiting patients often.

“caitlin and kate are known to be frequent visitors of the children’s hospital in iowa…. extremely proud to hear that they made sure to visit in the short amount of time that they’re there 🥹,” the tweet was captioned. Well, this is just what we’ve come to expect from Clark, whose affection for children shines through in the way she passionately signs autographs for her young fans. However, her visit to Iowa may also affect her preparations for the upcoming LPGA golf season.

Caitlin Clark shifts focus to Golf, prepares for upcoming Pro-Am and LPGA

While many of her fellow athletes have signed on with the Unrivaled League this off-season to supplement their income and sharpen their skills, Clark is choosing to focus on her golf pursuits. After impressing everyone with her skills at the John Deere Classic pro-am, she’s channeling her energy into the golf course. Next month, she will participate in the prestigious pro-am at The Annika, hosted at Florida’s Pelican Golf Club, just before the LPGA Tour finale.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing all the LPGA players on the driving range, participating in the Women’s Leadership Summit, and, of course, teeing it up in the pro-am with Annika,” Caitlin Clark shared as she gears up for the tournament. To prepare for this exciting event, Clark has been fine-tuning her swing with the help of Martha Foyer-Faulconer, a former LPGA player who competed from 1987 to 1995.

“Within the time we were working, we saw some drastic changes. It’s also part of her DNA because she’s going to do things well. She wants to be as good as she can in everything she touches. She’s very driven and passionate. It’s fun to work with her,” Foyer-Faluconer told Golfweek. However, as Clark enjoys some quality time with her Iowa friends right now, it will be interesting to see if she continues to receive such high praise or if she’ll need to ramp up her efforts to keep up with the competitive LPGA landscape.
