Simone Biles wraps up her 2024 Olympics gymnastics competition by seeking more gold in the balance beam and floor excercises Monday.
How to watch: Today’s first competion, the balance beam, begins at 12:38 p.m. CEST (6:38 a.m. EDT). You can watch the event live on NBC or stream it on the Peacock app.
How gymnastics scoring works: Each score is divided into two parts. The difficulty or “D-score” is what a gymnast does. The execution or “E” score is how well they do it. A 15 or better, and you’re pretty much assured of a gold medal.
Biles’ wins so far: The 27-year-old gymnast dominated the first week of the Olympics by winning three gold medals in front of star-studded crowds.

Biles will start on beam, where she has two Olympic bronzes that evoked entirely different emotions. She slipped but didn’t quite fall during the final in 2016 in Rio de Janeiro, a deduction that left her a little annoyed at the end of a Games where she finished with four golds (team, all-around, vault and floor exercise).
Things were far different five years later in Tokyo. She returned for the finals after an extended break to focus on her mental health and put together a steady if slightly watered down routine to win the seventh Olympic medal, one she called at the time maybe the sweetest of her career.
This is the final day of gymnastics at the Paris Olympics, with two men’s and two women’s events on tap.
Men’s parallel bars begin at 11:45 a.m. CEST/5:45 a.m. EDT.
All-around champion Simone Biles and fellow American Sunisa Lee compete in the women’s balance beam at 12:35 p.m. CEST/6:35 a.m. EDT.
Men’s horizontal bar starts at 1:30 p.m. CEST/7:30 a.m. EDT.
Biles, U.S. gymnast Jordan Chiles and Brazil’s Rebeca Andrade wrap up with the women’s floor exercise at 2:20 p.m. CEST/8:20 a.m. EDT.

If Biles wins both titles on beam and floor, she will tie the record for most Olympic gold medals by any female athlete in any sport, joining gymnast Larisa Latynina and swimmer Katie Ledecky.
Biles’ gold medal on vault on Sunday brought her tally to seven. Michael Phelps stands as the most decorated Olympian in history, with 23 gold medals.

The 27-year-old Simone Biles is in the finals on both the floor exercise and the balance beam. She already has two Olympic bronze medals on beam, where she is also a four-time world champion.
The surer bet for gold is on floor, where she’s never lost an event final in a major international competition during her long career. Biles is 7-for-7 between the Olympics and world championships on her signature event.
