Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark, the top pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, recently revealed that her big night didn’t go quite as planned.

Although fans saw Clark shining after her selection in Brooklyn, the former Iowa Hawkeyes standout admitted that her draft night experience was clouded by disappointment.

Speaking on the “Fresh Hawk” podcast, hosted by her former teammate Jada Gyamfi, Clark shared that she felt rushed and isolated immediately after being drafted. After all, she thought she could celebrate with friends and family.

“I was so upset because after I got drafted, I just got dragged out immediately and I didn’t get to see any of the draft,” Clark shared.

Clark explained that she barely had time to enjoy the event or check her phone, making it challenging to see the big moments, including when her friend Kate Martin was drafted.

Clark went on to express regret about missing meaningful moments with loved ones.

“I didn’t even take pictures with you guys, my family, [boyfriend] Connor McCaffery—no one,” she noted.

While she was able to celebrate after the draft, Clark’s candid comments revealed that the rushed schedule left her feeling disappointed on what should have been one of the happiest nights of her life.

Despite the less-than-ideal start to her WNBA career, Caitlin Clark still impressed in her rookie year. The playmaker quickly established herself as a force in the WNBA, breaking records, making it to the WNBA All-Star team, and earning the Rookie of the Year honor.
