Erik ten Hag has been handed a boost ahead of the 2024/25 season.
Manchester United have been handed a major boost ahead of their pre-season arrangements this summer.
Erik ten Hag’s side will be bidding for a season of progression after beating Manchester City to win the 2024 FA Cup at the back end of a largely disappointing 2023/24 campaign.
With plenty of players heading for the exit door, one experienced member of the side has agreed fresh terms regarding a new one-year deal.
As confirmed by the club on Tuesday, Tom Heaton will remain at Old Trafford for the 2024/25 campaign.

Heaton is a product of the Red Devils’ historic academy system and is already into his second spell with the club.
After returning in 2021, he eventually made his senior debut for United in the UEFA Champions League later that year against Young Boys.
The 38-year-old is a popular member of Ten Hag’s side and expressed his joy upon remaining at the Theatre of Dreams.
“I am delighted to continue my stay at my boyhood club,” Heaton told club media.
“I still feel in great shape and I am ready to offer whatever the squad needs throughout the season ahead.
“In addition to on the pitch, I’m learning so much off it for my next steps, whatever that may be.
“But, first and foremost, I want to push the squad to build on our successes from last season.”
Ten Hag remained as manager despite having led the club to an eighth-placed finish in the Premier League last term.
The Red Devils won just 18 of their 38 matches in the English top flight and even sounded out potential replacements for the Dutchman this summer.
Tom Heaton was brought in as a third choice goalkeeper, however may be promoted to Dean Henderson’s current position should Henderson leave Manchester United. (Alamy)
However, minority owners INEOS eventually decided that is was best to keep the former Ajax boss and look to renew his contract at the club.
“Manchester United have told me that they spoke with Tuchel, but they eventually came to the conclusion that they already have the best manager,” Ten Hag told Dutch broadcaster NOS.
“Manchester United and I still have to find an agreement for the new contract.
“This isn’t easily done, we are still going to have to talk about this.
“INEOS took their time. They are new in football, it’s normal to reflect on the season.
“It’s no secret that they talked with multiple candidates.”
