Fans React to Caitlin Clark Joining $100 Million Sports Investment

Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark has been keeping herself busy over the offseason. On Wednesday, the reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year took part in her second golf pro-am tournament as she rubbed elbows with the likes of Tom Brady and PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan.

As it turns out, Clark has also been busy making moves on the business front. News broke on Thursday that the 22-year-old has joined an ownership group that is attempting to bring a National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) team to Cincinnati.

The NWSL Cincinnati bid team is thrilled that Caitlin Clark has joined our ownership group in pursuit of bringing a women’s professional soccer team to our city,” read a statement from MLS team FC Cincinnati, who is reportedly leading the bid, per ESPN.

Caitlin Clark
Her passion for the sport, commitment to elevating women’s sports in and around the Greater Cincinnati region, and influence as an athlete and role model for women and girls around the world, make her a vital part of our compelling bid to become the 16th team in the NWSL.”

ESPN also reported that the expansion fee for this new team “could approach $100 million.” The other teams in contention for an expansion spot are Denver, Cleveland, Nashville and Philadelphia.

It did not take long before this massive development blew up on social media. In fact, more than a few fans have already shared their reaction to Clark’s (potential) major business investment.

“The perfect investment for Caitlin Clark the high school Soccer star!” read a comment.

“You’re freaking CRUSHING IT, 22. Keep going. ❤️” reacted a fan.

“As a Cincinnatian we accept!” wrote a Cincinnati native.

“this is a real money move,” declared a user.

“Caitlin Clark is putting herself in a position to become very powerful business woman. Expanding her horizons off the court. Smart.,” said another.

“Caitlin Clark is a boss…she releases the State Farm commercial the same day unrivaled team info release, and now investing in soccer ⚽️ and making money with golf and speakers…financially smart moves #WNBA” a comment read.

As one of the posts indicated, Clark played soccer in high school, which explains her connection to the sport. She wasn’t a casual player either, as the former Dowling Catholic High School star represented her school at a competitive level.

The NWSL currently has 14 teams in the league. Boston was previously announced as the 15th squad, and a 16th team will also be added for the 2026 season.
